Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor who is best recognized for her role as Detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue in which she earned an Emmy Award. Her roles are All My Children Philly CSI: Miami and Army Wives. Delaney was the sole daughter of the United Auto Workers executive and his wife, a domestic worker. Her upbringing was in a home with four other brothers. As a young girl, Delaney wanted to be a court-reporter. But in highschool, when she started modeling for commercials, and later after moving to New York. Her first appearance as an actor came when she was a young, innocent girl in the soap opera All My Children. Delaney is well-known as an actress, appearing involved in numerous TV movies, and dramas. While she has a impressive professional career, Delaney's personal one is not as successful and happy. She has been in the past talented actress struggled to overcome addiction to alcohol, and was married twice only to fail. In 2005, the actress was denied the custody of her son.
